Equipment in the highest charge band – 500 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more or, for the gases measured in kilograms, 100 kg or more – must be checked for leaks at least every three months; where a leakage detection system is installed, six months suffice. The duty covers stationary refrigeration equipment, air-conditioning equipment, heat pumps, fire protection equipment, Organic Rankine cycles and electrical switchgear, and refrigeration units in refrigerated trucks and trailers; for the remaining mobile equipment it applies from 13 March 2027. Stationary equipment in this band must also be fitted with a leakage detection system. The check is carried out by a certified natural person.

Einrichtungen der obersten Füllmengenstufe – 500 Tonnen CO₂-Äquivalent oder mehr beziehungsweise, bei den nach Kilogramm bemessenen Gasen, 100 kg oder mehr – sind mindestens alle drei Monate auf Dichtheit zu kontrollieren; ist ein Leckage-Erkennungssystem installiert, genügen sechs Monate. Die Pflicht gilt für ortsfeste Kälteanlagen, Klimaanlagen, Wärmepumpen, Brandschutzeinrichtungen, Organic-Rankine-Kreisläufe und elektrische Schaltanlagen sowie für Kälteanlagen in Kühllastkraftfahrzeugen und Kühlanhängern; für die übrigen mobilen Einrichtungen gilt sie ab dem 13. März 2027. Für ortsfeste Einrichtungen dieser Stufe ist zugleich ein Leckage-Erkennungssystem vorgeschrieben. Die Kontrolle führt eine zertifizierte natürliche Person durch.
