Stationary refrigeration equipment, air-conditioning equipment, heat pumps and fire protection equipment holding 500 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more or, for the gases measured in kilograms, 100 kg or more must be fitted with a leakage detection system that alerts the operator or a servicing company to any leak. The same duty applies to stationary Organic Rankine cycles and electrical switchgear holding 500 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more and installed from 1 January 2017; for them there is no threshold in kilograms.

Ortsfeste Kälteanlagen, Klimaanlagen, Wärmepumpen und Brandschutzeinrichtungen mit 500 Tonnen CO₂-Äquivalent oder mehr beziehungsweise, bei den nach Kilogramm bemessenen Gasen, 100 kg oder mehr müssen mit einem Leckage-Erkennungssystem versehen sein, das den Betreiber oder ein Wartungsunternehmen bei jeder Leckage warnt. Dieselbe Pflicht gilt für ortsfeste Organic-Rankine-Kreisläufe und elektrische Schaltanlagen mit 500 Tonnen CO₂-Äquivalent oder mehr, die ab dem 1. Januar 2017 installiert wurden; für sie gibt es keine Schwelle in Kilogramm.
