The company manufactures packaging so that the presence and concentration of substances of concern in packaging material and components is minimised. The sum of the concentrations of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium may not exceed 100 mg/kg (Article 5(4)). Food-contact packaging is additionally subject to the PFAS limits of Article 5(5): 25 ppb for any individual PFAS, 250 ppb for the sum of PFAS and 50 ppm for PFAS including polymeric PFAS; where total fluorine exceeds 50 mg/kg, evidence must be provided to the authority on request. Compliance must be demonstrated in the technical documentation under Annex VII pursuant to Article 5(6). The Commission may lay down exemptions for recycled materials in closed loops by delegated acts under Article 5(8).

Die Einhaltung ist nach Artikel 5 Absatz 6 in der technischen Dokumentation nach Anhang VII nachzuweisen. Ausnahmen für recycelte Materialien in geschlossenen Kreisläufen kann die Kommission durch delegierte Rechtsakte nach Artikel 5 Absatz 8 festlegen.
