The producer, or the producer responsibility organisation or authorised representative acting on its behalf, submits to the authority responsible for the register, by 1 June for each complete preceding calendar year, the information set out in Annex IX Part B, point 1 (Article 44(7)). A producer that made available or unpacked less than ten tonnes of packaging in the calendar year instead reports the information set out in Annex IX Part B, point 2 (Article 44(8)). Where extended producer responsibility is discharged individually, the producers, and otherwise the producer responsibility organisation or the operators of re-use systems, additionally report the information set out in Annex IX Part B, point 3 each year (Article 44(10)). Member States may require the reported information to be verified and certified by independent auditors (Article 44(7), second subparagraph) and may require quarterly submission for budgetary reasons (Article 44(9)).

Wer im Kalenderjahr weniger als zehn Tonnen Verpackungen erstmals bereitgestellt oder ausgepackt hat, meldet stattdessen die Angaben nach Anhang IX Teil B Nummer 2 (Artikel 44 Absatz 8). Bei individueller Erfüllung der erweiterten Herstellerverantwortung melden die Hersteller, sonst die Organisation für Herstellerverantwortung oder die Betreiber von Wiederverwendungssystemen, zusätzlich jährlich die Angaben nach Anhang IX Teil B Nummer 3 (Artikel 44 Absatz 10). Die Mitgliedstaaten können eine Prüfung und Zertifizierung der gemeldeten Angaben durch unabhängige Prüfer vorschreiben (Artikel 44 Absatz 7 Unterabsatz 2) und aus Haushaltsgründen eine vierteljährliche Übermittlung verlangen (Artikel 44 Absatz 9).
