Where the operator of a recharging point is not its owner, the owner provides the operator, in accordance with the arrangements between them, with a recharging point having the technical characteristics that enable the operator to comply with Article 5(2), (7), (8) and (10) — that is, the choice against automatic authentication, digital connection, smart recharging and a permanently attached cable. The same allocation applies to hydrogen refuelling points: where the operator is not the owner, the owner provides refuelling points with the technical characteristics enabling compliance with the payment requirements (Article 7(1), fourth subparagraph). For retail and multi-site companies this is the most common case in practice: the car park and the charging station belong to the company while a service provider operates them.
