The manufacturer affixes the CE marking visibly, legibly and indelibly to the product before placing it on the market, or to the packaging, the declaration of conformity or the accompanying website where the nature of the product does not allow otherwise.

Die Höhe darf bei kleinen Produkten unter 5 mm liegen, solange die Kennzeichnung sichtbar und lesbar bleibt. War eine notifizierte Stelle am Verfahren der umfassenden Qualitätssicherung nach Modul H beteiligt, folgt der Kennzeichnung deren Kennnummer. Es gelten daneben die allgemeinen Grundsätze des Artikels 30 der Verordnung (EG) Nr. 765/2008.
